Highlights, Shadows & SmartClip
This section focuses on preserving detail at the ends of the tonal scale: highlight and shadow “tails” compression, highlight stops, and the controls that define where these corrections begin and how strongly they act.
For digital cameras, clipped channels can create tinted highlights, especially when highlights are compressed. SmartClip and the SC Freeze/Lock workflow give you a controlled way to neutralize (or intentionally tint) corrected highlight areas so they blend naturally with the rest of the image.
